One of the most anticipated events of the year for Java developers is soon here - JavaOne 2014. JavaOne will be held in San Francisco, CA, on September 28th to October 2nd with technical sessions, keynote presentations, exhibits, and of course the expo floor with, among others, the Vaadin team at your service!
Come and experience Valo theme engine and TouchKit 4
You will find us at the JavaOne exhibition hall, at booth 5401. Come see the newly released Valo theme engine in action and we’ll help you plan how to use it. It is quite amazing to see how you can create a custom theme in seconds by tweaking a few parameters.
While at the booth, also check out the newly released TouchKit 4 as well. With TouchKit, you’ll be able to extend your application into mobile and tablet by supporting all major platforms – Android, iOS and Windows Phone out of the box - both on smartphones and tablets.
Vaadin Meetup - see you there
Join the Vaadin team for a beer and snacks on Tuesday (September 30th) 5PM at the Vaadin Meetup. This is a great opportunity to meet other Vaadin users, corner some of the Vaadin team members and hear more on what is happening around Vaadin.
We will demo what’s new with Vaadin 7.3 and the amazing Valo theme engine, discuss Vaadin CDI support, demo TouchKit and share thoughts on how we see the future of web standards aligning with the future of Vaadin. The event will be informal - presentations and demos are short (15 minutes or so), and sharing experiences and answering your questions is the main focus. The meetup is just around the corner from JavaOne, at Serrano hotel.

Talks, presentations, speeches
There are multiple Vaadin-related presentations during JavaOne. Here are some you do not want to miss:
The first one is already on Sunday, September 28th, at 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM - Moscone South - 200. It is a joint session with Boeing, Jelastic, JRebel, and Vaadin’s Matti Tahvonen. The session ‘Meet the NetBeans Community, with Boeing, Jelastic, JRebel, Vaadin, and More’ will start the NetBeans Community Day at JavaOne 2014 Conference.
In the second one, Henri Muurimaa will cover 'Functional UIs with Java 8 and Vaadin' on Tuesday, September 30th at 4pm at Parc 55 - Powell I/II. Attend this session to find out how the functional features of Java 8 and Vaadin empower you to write clearer UI code.
On Wednesday, October 1st, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, head over to Hilton Plaza A for a web application smackdown titled ‘Where’s My UI?’. In this panel session hosted by Neil Ford from ThoughtWorks, leaders of today’s hottest web frameworks discuss the pros and cons of where the UI state should be and how you should choose a framework for your next project. The panel includes JSF spec lead Ed Burns from Oracle, Founder of AngularJS project Misko Hevery from Google, React framework lead Pete Hunt from Facebook and Vaadin founder Joonas Lehtinen.
See you at JavaOne 2014!
